It has been two long months since events on board the IAV Ziggurat. Now it's just called The Fall. Having survived the chaos of Verbena and making it off world alive, Ian Dugan and Tobias Hawke find themselves staring up at the night sky of the planet Ghost, a nearby gas giant, the aptly named Zeus, sat lazily on the horizon. Things had gotten rather messy in the Kalidasa sector of late, and the small planet was now being used to dispose of the various remains. The air stank of death, a scent the pair were all too familiar with now. It shouldn't be long now...

Roughly 300 miles above, the Glory slowly dipped into the planets orbit and began their descent. Captain Becker stood on the bridge, trying to catch a glimpse through the think clouds below. Having spent weeks trying to locate Ian, break the blockade somehow and rescue them, but with no luck. Just as he was about to give up, a coded Cortex message bounced to the ship, with only a set of co-ordinates. He hoped it wasn't a trap, Niska just rubbing it in, but something felt right this time, like maybe this could be for real....

It had been a long 48 hours. Trina was finally able to stabilize Cole and return his vitals to normal levels. It has been 6 hours since his last seizure which was good. Cole was laying peacefully on the medical table, dressed in sweat pants and a plain white shirt. Trina had was mentally and physically exhausted from the whole ordeal. She literally had fallen asleep in a nearby chair.

The rest of the crew had been either helping Trina in medical or trying to figure out what go do with the crate. Everyone was hungry and tired and tension was starting to build up.

Cole then started to groan which woke her up. He slowly sat up in pain. "Ughh. Where am I?"

The rest of the crew had been gathered in the Bridge due to Karyn notifying everyone that they were moments away from Greenleaf. The lush green planet slowly came into view from the helm window.

Trina then chimed in over the ship-wide comms. "Captain. Cole is awake."

Through a mist filled forest Cole walked confused. Road weary he expected to have made it into town by now but the moon was new and it was pitch black. Wolves howled off to his left but they sounded far away. There was a tiny light way off in the distance and he thought that he must've gone off course for the town to still be that far off. He began walking towards the light when the ground gave out underneath him. He fell shaking his way down a steep ravine and when he hit the bottom he was glad to have not broken anything. Oddly enough the light still was at eye level and he dusted himself off and continued walking. The mist swirled around him, embracing him in a ghostly dance. Shades of a past he could not remember. Faces barely formed and just as quickly disappear into the mist. The light was getting bigger and bigger and the mist finally released it's grasp on him. He walked on and on until he felt the warmth of the light bathe him.

He awoke. "Ughh. Where am I?"

A terrible mind wrenching memory haunted Cole as he yelled out in unbearable pain.

One Week Earlier...

Cole had survived the encounter with the Vanguard, leaving many that he had come to know dead. All that remained was Captain Silver, Lemon - the Pilot and Mr. Mack the engineer. The Captain decided he needed to find more men and they were en route to Persephone - Eavesdown, Docks as that is where a lot of seedy mercenaries could be found.

While heading to their location, Cole had be assigned by Mr. Mack to do a lot of interior patch up jobs from the gun fire. Suddenly an explosion rocked the ship as the lights flickered off. The emergency lighting kicked on and provided little light as oxygen began to escape from the ship like a vacuum. An automated womans voice came over the intercom "Warning! Hull Breach! Oxygen levels are depleting rapidly. Make way to emergency escape pods."

Gun fire then echoed through the ship as Cole fell to a crouched position. He was genuinely scared.

The intercom was tripped as Cole heard the Captain and Lemon yelling at someone. "Die you traitor!" the Captain yelled. The sounds of gunfire erupted again as Lemon could be heard crying out in pain. Captain Silver then changed his tone to someone that was going to die. "Why Anders...? The sound of a single gun shot pierced over the intercom as there was suddenly silence.

Mr. Mack startled Cole as he grabbed his wrist. "Come on boy, to the escape pod!" Mr. Mack led Cole down a corridor where he pressed a button against the wall, revealing a one person escape pod. "Go on boy! I will get the next one!" Cole was thrust into the escape pod as blood suddenly splattered over him. Mr. Mack fell backwards as a bullet blasted part of his skull off.

Mr. Mack had already activated the escape pod as a timer was counting down from 20 seconds. The gunman appeared in the open hatch as he pointed a gun at Cole. "Wait... It's you..!" Anders Horvath tried to reach out to Cole but the escape hatch sealed shut and the pod launched off into the distance.

It felt like he was drifting forever...

The bright lights of the medical unit came back to him as he had a severe headache.

A great part of Becker wanted to rush to med-bay and deal with the man he simply hadn't accepted as being Cole yet. The high suspicions had left his gun strapped to his side which was rarely necessary when the ship was locked up and in transit. However, with eyes on Greenleaf it made sense to have a presence on the bridge. Conceding with a deep breath, he stated his plans. "I'll stay here."

"Ian." He followed up quickly before the man escaped, then Mike held his tongue. slowly encroaching on what he had to say. "Make sure it's him." It seemed awkward, no one else had expressed a suspicion. "Ask him something... Sommet that'd only ring true with Cole."

After making the call to Ian, Trina stayed near the com looking over at Cole. She wasn't sure what to expect, whether he'd remember her at all, but she couldn't simply stay away from him and not see to him. So, after several long seconds, she finally crossed to stand beside his bed. Pale blue eyes looked down at his face, her lips turning up into a soft smile. "You're safe. How are you feeling?"

For now, until she knew how much he might actually remember, Trina didn't use his name. The familiar use of it might throw further confusion and stress into the mix. Neither of which Cole needed after such a long, long stretch of recovering from the hibernation. Briefly, her eyes went to the monitors near the bed and then returned to the young man's face.

A jolting, graphic memory slammed into her. He was telling her to stop giving him blood from herself. Taking a deep breath, she pushed the memory back and away and smiled a little bigger at him. It was good to see his face at least, even if he didn't remember.

Med Bay

Ian had ran to Cole's head and held his shoulders against his trashing. He kept his own counsil as to weather this was Cole or not, but Mike's question stuck with him.

Once Cole was more stable, Ian had left the Med Bay and kept wverybody fed as best as he could.

Now

Bridge to Med Bay

It had been a full week and Ian fought against the stress level aboard ship. He had acted the fool and made sure everyone had eaten something. Now they were almost to Greenleaf and Ian had pushed a small cart of food to the Bridge. Most of the crew was there.

The call came in from the Med Bay about Cole waking up and Ian turned to run the Med Bay but Mike caught his sleeve.

Quote:

"Ian. ... Make sure it's him. ... Ask him something... Sommet that'd only ring true with Cole."

Ian nodded and clapped Mike on the shoulder.

Once at the Med Bay he slowed to a walk and entered.

"How's our patient, Doc?"

He looked between Cole and Trina as he spoke.

Cole gritted his teeth as the memory shocked through his system. As the moment past and the pain subsided he held his head and sobbed. "They're all gone... Mack." Suddenly he began to violently wipe blood and brains that weren't on him off. Scrubbing his face with his palms he screamed an indescribable haunting wail. Tears streamed from his eyes.

Then....

Sonya Gulliver took on more duties, assisted where she could in the engine room and the flight deck. Though second pilot, and last in the pecking order of what she considered the ship's officers; she was now determined to bring Glory under her wings.

Her friendliness increased toward Mike and Trina, loving smiles; with Karyn it was much as before, a fierce rivalry against her burned inside - but it remained stifled. Karyn was the better pilot. And Gulliver swallowed her pride to continue to overwhelm her twin in their training.

As much as Khei could, Gulliver nurtured her along. Or rather as much as Sonya could. talking ship's systems seemed to be the best way.

Remy and Biff, she tried to make amends; explaining "I had to get back." she meant physically. She invited them to join Karyn and her in their exercises. Besides, hooking them up would be good, yes? And with them, she could show off. 'GOD I feel good'
Her physical return to her younger days. It was ungodly. Or rather... actually... god-like.

As for the walking talking legend Tobias, Sonya gave him a few looks open to interpretation, discussed their own vague memory losses and twists in what they could remember. It seemed Cole wasn't like them. He'd just been froze. They were ghosts. And she wasn't scared of him. Not anymore. "Immortal brother." she called him a couple times.

Ian Dugan.
That she was stalking him became no real secret. She fingered her hair when he was in the room, brushing it back behind an ear. 'Did he still?' she seemed to wonder.

And her suggesion, "What about going to my place? The Brown Village. There's a huge overhand, a cave to hide the ship. Smugglers to work with, or for. And friends to get us in and out of the city."
It would mean exposing Glory to Ian Gulliver. their son. Fully exposed to Glory and Ian Dugan. She was that sure Glory was the future!

They split the washing and drying after chow, though Sonya avoided any cooking. Then,
... just enough avoidance to give him a chance, like he used to. To show up when he didn't need to be there.
Then one night, she'd do the showing up.

=================================
Now.

Bridge.

Now it was all different.

She'd put it all together, between what the smarter of the crew could figure. Niska was tracking them. Or Cole was linked to the crate or the device was to him. Whatever.

Whatever mudderrutting right! She was not taking Glory to where the likes of Niska would follow. God had she gone stark raving mad. .. ... well, yes, but that was way before.... but again.

Sonya sat at her junior pilot station. Her focus on Greenleaf ahead. Agitated, not the same as she'd been the week before. Nor the two months before. The course plotter sat open on the screen, waiting for her to plot a course ordered by the Captain. Ready to take them anywhere. But there. not home.

Glory? Close to her son.

No. Never. It was not going to happen.

Not now.

Never.

"Awake..."

It was all Trina managed to get out to Ian before Cole spoke. When he began to frantically scrub at his face, she stepped forward and gently put a hand to each of his arms. She didn't pull on his arms, but left her hands there in hopes that it would reassure and calm Cole. "Shh.... You're alright."

It was likely very little comfort in regards to the words he'd spoken. He'd said something about people being gone. And a name: Mack. It wasn't one she recognized and it wasn't anyone who had been on Glory when Cole had died. "Can you tell me your name and where you're from?"

The questions were spoken as softly and gently as Trina could muster. Leaning over Cole, she kept her hands on his arms and finding herself torn between the answers she hoped to hear from him. A small part of her begged him silently to speak words that answered in affirmation that he was really and truly the same Cole she had tried to save. The larger part of her hoped that somehow, Cole had unknowingly had a twin.

Karyn watched the instruments with a quick glance up at the oncoming planet. The board was shiny; no indications of any mechanical or gravitic problems coming into orbit. She smiled over at Sonya, sitting in second seat. "How far is it to your homestead? Maybe we should consider a short hop over there once we're down and secured."

As they came into the thin edges of atmosphere, she felt for that typical bump that told her they had caught more than the vacuum of Black. That instinctive solidness of a gravity well that surrounds every large body in space.

But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me
Stick with me baby, stick with me anyhow. Things should start to get interestin' right about now

As Glory descended into the atmosphere of Greenleaf, a thick pillar of black smoke rose from a vast dense jungle area of the planet. Sonya would instantly recognize it as her home, the hidden village of the brown hill people was in ruins.

Last night she had it all worked out. Greenleaf, Glory, and then one little missing piece to the complete picture. Ian Dugan, bring him him. She'd gone to his quarters, with little... if any protest; Sonya ravished him. She knew he liked that aggression, if only from someone he trusted. And she know just how he'd responded after she'd had her way.

And she'd been right.

And earing the velvet and lace didn't hurt. He always did like the way she stripped out of that.

The middle of the night, between repeat performances, the situation changed. Ian's mention of Niska, the tracking possibilities. As she sat on the bed, she rarely slept long; Gulliver looked down at the man that had shared so many portions of her life. And yet, she stroked his exposed back, Ian moved and smiled - he was well aware of her sitting up in bed. Not sleeping.

It had clicked then. She'd rutted it all up. Sonya was taking Niska, leading the worst to ... to home. Gulliver dressed, gave the Captain; one she had a feeling she was about to betray later when she would refuse to give the location of her hideaway home; gave him a soft kiss to his the crossed scars.

He'd not forgive for this. Loving him like this, then slamming the door to his son in his face.

But.. but she could take that kind of chance...

=======

later....

"How far is it to your homestead? Maybe we should consider a short hop over there once we're down and secured." said Karyn, who would be the only one to see Sonya's face. It was hard, scared. Sonya wasn't going to tell them, she was about to say just that when she saw the long range scans.

"Wait a minute?" Sonya said. She zoomed in the scanner, the sky was clear. Normally electronic scans were sketchy on Greenleaf, which along with the junglewood foliage made for a perfect place to build a hideaway. The sky was clear except for a thick line of...

.... smoke.

Gulliver cross referenced, this couldn't be right!

Vomit and bile rose in her throat and she forced it back down. Her finger reached over near Karyn and she switched control of the ship to her boards, controls and sticks. As she did Sonya's screens filled with flight data and the scans of a burning village switched to a larger screen that all could see.

"That's it!" Glory tore in a straight line to the Brown Village. The grav plates and safety systems couldn't stop the surge of accelleration.

Any fears of her rushing in were diminished as she veered off as Glory closed in. Training and experience held her in check, despite the urge to rush to a quick landing she circled the mountaintop village, smolding in thick columns of smoke. The damage done some time ago. Burned out buildings smoldered, others still burned.

"Permission to land Captain." her voice was like from the dead.

Becker hadn't noted the sight from the window, he was caught up imagining the sight of Cole in the med-bay. Karyn's comment and Sonya's following silence had caused him to crack a smile. On their last visit to Greenleaf, Mike had pressed for where her hideout was, but to no avail. He was very interested in her little one, but had been unable to see him, and the curiosity held. That and the appeal of working himself into a cool uncle role.
Sonya

"That's it!"
Mike found himself clutching whatever it was that hung from the roof that prevented him from hitting the floor as acceleration swept through the ship. He span on his heels, still clutching, to look forward and take in the view from the bridge. Realising the situation, he pulled himself toward the console.

Mike added onto the comms conversation. "Some kind of emergency Dugan. They could use our help."
